The Women of Now Book Discussion (Alumnae Event)

This virtual event features Katherine Turk, author of "The Women of NOW: How Feminists Built an Organization that Transformed America," and 澳门水利博彩官方网站 alumna Mary Jean Collins ’63, who is one of the three women featured in the book.

"The Women of NOW" book shares the history of the National Organization for Women (NOW)―its organization, trials, and revolutionary mission―told through the work of three members. The book is available at Amazon, Bookshop and Barnes & Noble.

Author Katherine Turk studies women, gender and sexuality and their intersections with law, labor and social movements in the modern United States. She is an associate professor of history and adjunct associate professor of women’s and gender studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mary Jean Collins ’63 was president of the Chicago chapter of NOW, a member of the national board and director of the campaign to have the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) ratified in Illinois. She led anti-discrimination protests against Sears and AT&T.
